Michael Brown, sherco, at madrid iwtc

Michael failed to qualify for the televised final for the first time in this years indoor wtc by the smallest of margins. In the qualifying heat Michael had lost four 5's, the same as Fajardo, Oliveras and Gomez but lost out to fellow Sherco rider Albert Cabestany in the race.. Michael was actually leading this race up until the last obstacle but had a little trouble that allowed Cabestany past.
Michaels comments after the event reflect his feelings...
" I am really disappointed not to have made the final tonight. The sections have been really difficult in the qualification and to just miss out on winning the race with Cabestany was also disappointing. I now return home and am looking forward to next weekends BTC in Scotland. I would like to thank Shaughan and Jono Richardson for their help over the weekend".

British Trials Championship, Round 1

Michael Brown (MRS Sherco) finished 3rd at the first round of the British Championship organised by the Scarborough & District Motor Club on the 1st March.
There was a very good crowd for a British championship, and Michael had a lot of support as he was riding on home territory. He started well with cleans on the first 4 sections but fived section 5... then carried on riding well but also fived 13 and ended the lap joint leader with James Dabill on 15 and Dougie Lampkin on 18.
Michael didn't start the 2nd lap as well, he had a 3 on section 2 and another on section 9 which would see him drop below Dabill and finish on equal marks with multi world champion Lampkin... the most cleans tie-break going in Dougie's favour.

Michael commented after the event..  "I have really enjoyed the trial today but i am disappointed with the result as i have made some mistakes on the second lap. The sections have been very good and the organisation has been excellent. I would like to thank all the public who supported me today and also to Shaughan and Malcolm for doing a great job"

Next trial for Pune is the Madrid indoor and then a return home for the Scottish round of the BTC where he will be fighting for the win!!!!!

World indoor championship 2009, Round 4

Michael again qualified for the final at round 4 of the FIM World Indoor Championship in Bolzano, Italy tonight.

The sections proved to be of a more technical nature for this event than in Barcelona and after a good showing in the qualifier to beat Matteo Grattarola into the final, having 2 cleans then 2 fives and another clean,  Michael had to ride the sections first throughout the televised event. This proved a difficult job but Michael pushed hard and gave a great account of himself to the friendly Italian crowd. His 6th place on the night keeps him in 6th overall in the Championship.

Michael Commented after the event "I have really enjoyed tonight's trial and the sections have been much more rideable than the previous round. I was very happy with my riding in the qualification but I made mistakes in the final which I need to rectify in the next round in madrid. I would like to thank all the team for their help over the past week and now I am looking forward to round 1 of the British Championship this weekend in Scarborough"

You can view images of Michael in the sections, thanks to Ian Cross, by clicking on the picture below of Michael in the last section of the night which will take you to Ian's gallery section of this site. Images added after the Barcelona collection.

Michael Brown took his Sherco to top spot in the recent Indoor event at Bielefeld Germany from last years winner Alexz Wigg.

There were 5 sections, a long jump and a race in the qualification round.. all to be completed in 7 and half minutes. 2500 people watched as Michael beat Nicolas Gontard in the race, lost 2 in the sections and a single point on the long jump to win the heat to allow him to ride last in the final.

In the final Michael won the race, this time from Alexz Wigg, cleaned the long jump and started with 3 cleans in the sections before a couple of fives and two on time penalties meant a total of 12 points lost and the win over Wiggy.

After the Event Michael commented... " I am very happy to have won today and have really enjoyed the whole event. The organisers have put a lot of work in to the sections and they have been spot on. I am also happy with the way i rode today and now am looking forward to the next round of the world indoor series in Bolzano, Italy, on Thursday night... I would also like to thank Alex Godby for minding for me today"
